Using a Router with SwiftLink Internet |
|
|
If you would like to be able to use more than one computer with your internet service, you may elect to purchase a router. Routers are generally very easy to setup with SwiftLink Internet. Connect an Ethernet jumper from your power wedge (PoE) to the WAN port on your router. Connect your computers to the LAN ports on your router, and if using a wireless router, follow the manufacturer?s instructions for connecting any wireless devices you may have. Be sure to setup security on your wireless router to prevent unauthorized users from using your internet. Beware of inexpensive wireless routers, as you often get what you pay for. Also, if you elect to use a wireless router, you will need to make sure to set it to a channel that will not interfere with your SwiftLink receiver. You can contact our office for the channel information for your receiver and follow the router manufacturer?s instructions to change it to an appropriate channel. Failure to properly set the channel on your wireless router may result in internet performance issues.
